Remaining staff were leaving Coseley School today after the last pupils left in June.

Dudley Council decided to close the school due to dwindling pupil numbers and poor performance - although results did improve over the last year.

Parents started removing pupils from the school following the announcement last year, with many moving to Dormston School.

Coseley councillor Star Anderton said it was a sad day for the area.

She said: "It's extremely sad. We need a high school, we need the provision because we don't have enough spaces.

"I feel very sad for the children who would have gone there next year or for the children who should have finished their time at school there."

Plans have emerged for the Coseley School site to be used as a free primary school.
