Police hunt bogus council worker after elderly man targeted in Dudley home
‘We appreciate the image isn’t very clear’
Police are appealing for the public’s help after an elderly man was targeted by a bogus caller claiming to be a council worker in Dudley.
Officers launched an investigation following the distraction burglary at an address on Wavell Road, Quarry Bank, on October 21 shortly before 9.40am.
A man claiming to be checking electrics for the council and presented a debit card with a name on it was allowed into the home.
Thankfully the victim realised he was being lied to when he was told he needed to pay for the checks and asked the man to leave, with nothing being stolen.
Following enquiries, police are now able to issue an image of a man they want to identify in connection with the incident.

He is described as being around 5ft 7ins tall, has some facial hair, dark hair that was parted, of a slim build and was wearing a dark bomber jacket with a grey hood and dark trousers.
CCTV trawls have also shown a man walking along Bobs Coppice Walk and Watchman Avenue before and after the incident.
A spokesman said: “We appreciate the image isn’t very clear but are hoping people in the area may have some information or CCTV that could assist our investigation.
“We would also like to speak to anyone who was in these areas around this time.
