'Do not eat' - Doritos urgently recalls popular flavour of crisps due to health risk
Popular Doritos flavour recalled over ‘possible health risk’.
A popular packet of Doritos has been recalled by PepsiCo after they were found to pose a potential health risk.
Packets of Doritos Chilli Heatwave (140g and 180g) have been recalled, and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned consumers: "Do not eat".
The recall comes as some packs of the popular Doritos flavour may have been packed with the wrong product which contains milk.
The recall applies to 140g packs of Doritos Chilli Heatwave with the batch code GBC 209 184C and a best before date of December 5, 2026.
It also includes 180g packs with the same batch code and best before date.
The FSA said: "This product contains milk making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”
The product is sold widely across the West Midlands, including at major supermarkets.
What happens if you have purchased a packet of Doritos Chilli Heatwave?
The FSA said: “PepsiCo is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it.
“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For more information, or to receive a full refund, please contact PepsiCo Consumer Care Line on 0800 274777 or visit contact.pepsico.com/walkers.”
Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold.
Then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).
Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk.
When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA issues an ‘Allergy Alert’.
