Demolition planned for former Wolverhampton college campus

Demolition could begin this September

Wolverhampton Council has revealed plans to demolish a former college campus that served learners for more than 60 years.

Plans to demolish the former City of Wolverhampton College’s Paget Road campus have been revealed.

The campus, which opened in 1962, was originally the site of Wulfrun College before it merged with the former Bilston College to become Wolverhampton College in 1999, adapting its current title following the granting of city status in 2000.

It officially closed in October 2025, when the college moved to its new state-of-the-art £61 million campus in the centre of Wolverhampton.

A new planning application lodged by Wolverhampton Council said 12 buildings will be demolished to provide "a cleared site prior to its marketing" and to remove ongoing responsibilities for "management, maintenance and trespass".

Wolverhampton Council said that if plans are approved it expects work will begin in September this year and take around three months.

Last year, the council said the Paget Road site had been earmarked for "much-needed housing".

The full application is available to view on the council's planning portal using reference number 26/00705/DEM.
