Cycle lane closures coming to Wednesbury town centre due to works

Cyclists are being warned of temporary inconvenience

Bike riders will face a temporary cycle lane closure due to sewer repairs in a town centre.

Sandwell Council said Victoria Street, in Wednesbury, will have a diversion route in place. The work is being carried out by Ipsum Water on behalf of Severn Trent Water.

The notice states: “The order intends to temporarily prohibit bicycles from proceeding along the cycle lane in Victoria Street, which will be closed in both directions between the entrance to the Wednesbury Police Station car park and the entrance to the factory unit.

“A diversion route will not be signed as this is a cycle lane closure, but cyclists will be requested to dismount on both approaches to the closure and use the footway to navigate the works area.”

The maximum duration for the project is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by September 14 effective from August 31.
