Wolverhampton street taped off as armed police storm flat
An armed police raid on a block of flats brought a Wolverhampton neighbourhood to a standstill.

The area around Guy Avenue and Luce Road, in Fallings Park, was taped off and a number of armed officers seen around the block of flats in the raid, which happened around 4.15pm on Monday.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said they saw a number of cars sitting with people inside them before a couple of police cars and a dog unit arrived at the scene. Shortly afterwards several armed officers entered the block of flats.
It is believed that a man was led out of one of the flats and taken away in a police car, while the area was taped off and armed officers remained in place.
One man, who asked not to be named, said he lived in the block of flats and was surprised to find out there had been an armed raid.

He said: "I'd just popped out to the shops and saw a few cars with people inside them, but I didn't think anything of it until I got back and found out the road was closed off and I can't get into my flats.
"I don't think I've seen anything like this around the flats before and, while there can be trouble around here, I've never seen an armed raid before."
Another man, who asked not to be named, said he had seen someone being taken out of the block of flats, but had no idea what could have caused it.

He said: "It's news to me that there could be something going on in those flats and very surprising to see so many armed police here.
"This is a tight-knit community and we know if something is going on, so it must be something big for all of this, as I've seen dogs and armed police and I saw them taking someone out of the flats."
The area around the flats was eventually reopened, with the tape removed and marked and unmarked police cars leaving the scene at around 5.10pm.
West Midlands Police have been contacted for a comment.
