Wolverhampton school forced into lockdown as armed man suspected of robbery jumps nearby fence
A Wolverhampton school was forced into lockdown on Tuesday afternoon after a man armed with a weapon jumped a nearby school's fence.

Wolverhampton Girls' High School kept all students inside after being made aware of the intruder at another nearby school at around 3.30pm.
The man, who had been suspected of robbery, had leapt over the school fence after being chased by workmen.
He was subsequently arrested nearby and the lockdown concluded around 4.30pm.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "The children were kept in school after a man suspected of robbery and armed with a weapon, jumped a school fence after being chased by workmen.
"The man was arrested a short distance away and children have now been able to leave the school." Staff at Wolverhampton Girls' High School said the incident had not occurred at their school.
On Wednesday, West Midlands Police added: "We've charged a man after a car was allegedly broken into in Compton Road at around 2.45pm yesterday.
"Our neighbourhood teams liaised with residents and local schools as officers carried out enquiries and searched the surrounding area.
"At around 4.45pm a man was arrested in the city centre and taken into police custody.
"Today a 50-year-old man has been charged with theft from a vehicle and is due before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court."
