Multiple arrests made and weapons seized over Easter weekend

West Midlands Police’s Operation Guardian officer made multiple arrests and seized knives over the Easter weekend.

In West Bromwich town centre, one man was stopped and searched.

Here, police officers were able to recover a lock knife, and following further searches a samurai sword was also found.

The man identified as Ian Roberts, aged 47, was arrested and has since been charged with two counts of possession of an offensive weapon. He will appear before Dudley Magistrates Court in a couple of weeks (Tuesday, April 21).

In Shard End, an 18-year-old man was stopped on Cole Hall Lane and initially tried to evade officers. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, and possession of Class B drugs, after officers found rocks of Class A drugs and cannabis nearby. He has since been released on bail.

In Dudley, Guardian officers recovered over 20 wraps of crack cocaine, a mobile phone believed to be linked to drug dealing and arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
