Two more teenagers arrested in connection with murder outside Smethwick mosque

Two more teenagers have been arrested in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old man near a mosque in Smethwick.

West Midlands Police officers detained two boys, aged 16 and 17, from an address in Sandwell today (March 5). They have been taken into custody for questioning on suspicion of murder.

Five other boys, aged 16 and 17, have already been charged over the death of 18-year-old Zeshan Afzal, who was found seriously injured following disorder near the Jamia Masjid on Oldbury Road at just before 9pm on February 20. He was pronounced dead a short time after.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said today: "This remains a very active investigation but we still need to hear from anyone with information which could help us get justice for Zeshan and his family.
