Teenager arrested by counter-terrorism officers in Birmingham
A teenager has been arrested by counter terrorism officers after a pre-planned operation in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police confirmed that the 17-year-old had been arrested in Birmingham on Tuesday on suspicion of possessing an article for terrorism purposes and possessing a document useful to terrorism and had been taken into custody.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands have today arrested a teenager in a pre-planned policing operation.
"The 17-year-old was detained from an address in Aston, Birmingham on suspicion of possessing an article for terrorism purposes and possessing a document useful to terrorism.
"He is currently in custody for questioning.
