Man charged following stabbing and assault of man and woman in Hednesford

A man has been charged following an incident which saw a man be stabbed and a woman assaulted in Hednesford.

Staffordshire Police has confirmed that Andre Hancox was charged with a number of incidents following the stabbing, which happened on Green Heath Road on Sunday morning.

The force confirmed that the 28-year-old from Birmingham had been charged with Section 18 – wounding with intent, assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and possessing a knife in a public place and was due to appear at Newcastle-under-Lyme Magistrates Court on Monday.

No details are yet available of Hancox's appearance in court.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "A man has been charged with a number of offences after a man was stabbed and a woman was assaulted in Hednesford.

"Andre Hancox, 28, of Birmingham, has been charged with Section 18 – wounding with intent, assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and possessing a knife in a public place.

"It comes after officers responded to reports of a stabbing near Green Heath Road at 10.50am on Sunday (22 February).

"The man was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"The woman was not seriously injured.

"Hancox is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday."
