Arrests made after group of masked men armed with machetes raided Birmingham shop for vapes, cigarettes and cash

Four men have been arrested and several weapons were recovered following an armed robbery in Birmingham.

The incident, which occurred near Five Ways on December 23, saw a group of masked men, armed with machetes, stole cigarettes, vapes, and cash from a local shop. 

Fortunately, no one was injured during the robbery, but the suspects managed to flee the scene.

Police launched an immediate investigation, reviewing CCTV footage to identify a vehicle believed to be connected to the crime.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "In the early hours of this morning (27 December), the car was spotted in the Saltley area and armed officers were immediately deployed.

"The car initially failed to stop and then those inside ran off. But with help from the police helicopter, officers quickly found and detained four men hiding in gardens nearby.

"The car was searched and two machetes and a knife were seized from inside.

"The men, aged between 21 and 26, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and weapons offences, and remain in police custody."
