Murder investigation launched in Birmingham after man dies from serious injuries by 'suspected stabbing'

A murder investigation has been launched in Birmingham after a man died from serious injuries in what was believed to be a stabbing.

West Midlands Police confirmed the investigation was underway after a man in his 20s was found with serious injuries on Hutton Road in Lozells and, despite the best efforts of members of the public and ambulance workers, he died at the scene.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We have launched a murder investigation after a man tragically died in Birmingham on Sunday evening.

"We were called to reports of a stabbing on Hutton Road in Lozells at around 5.20pm.

"A man in his 20s was found with serious injuries, and despite life-saving attempts from members of the public and ambulance colleagues, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this deeply distressing time.

"We’re in the early stages of our investigation, a scene remains in place and there is an increased police presence while we carry out urgent enquiries in the area and establish exactly what happened.
