Yet another shooting in Wolverhampton just weeks after tragic double deaths
Yet another gun attack has been carried out in Wolverhampton in the latest shooting in the city in recent weeks.
In the latest incident a 19-year-old man was found with a gunshot leg wound in the Peel Street Car Park off Wolverhampton Ring road shortly before 4.40pm on Sunday. As a result the A4150 Wolverhampton Ring Road was sealed off for several hours between Chapel Ash and the Penn Road.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
It follows the launch of a murder manhunt after two men were fatally shot while sitting in a vehicle in Leicester Road, in nearby Whitmore Reans, at around 3.10am on September 19. The victims Duaine Mills, aged 28, was pronounced dead at the scene and father-of-three Syed Zain Ali, aged 32, died in hospital.
West Midlands Police has launched a public appeal for help in tracking down murder suspect 38-year-old Mohammed Maneer Khan, also known as 'Manny', in connection with the incidents.
Senior investigating officer Jenny Birch, of the force's homicide team, said: "We’ve been working around the clock - to establish what happened and who was responsible.
“We have already made a number of attempts to locate and arrest Khan, and now we are asking for the public’s help so that we can bring him into custody.
Neo Graham, aged 24, was shot in broad daylight in Eastfield Grove, Eastfields, near Horseley Fields just after 3.20pm on March 4. Five men alleged to have been involved are due to stand trial in February for conspiracy to commit murder.
Koketso Ximba, aged 22, of Montano Drive; Deric Da Silva Ferreria, aged 19 of Fifth Avenue, both in Low Hill; Elie Mey, aged 24, of Inkerman Street; Fabio Bandarrinha, aged 20, of Powell Street, both in Heath Town; and Aaron Osei, aged 22, of South Road, Birmingham, all deny conspiracy to commit murder; possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a firearm for self gain; possessing ammunition without a firearms certificate and possessing a controlled drug with intent to supply and possession of criminal property relating to money.
Almost 200 family, friends and wellwishers attended a memorial vigil and balloon release held in tribute to Mr Graham at the scene. The Wolverhampton Safer Partnership group which has been key in tackling crime and community safety issues said shootings were not reflective of the city.
On May 6 a man, aged in his 30s, was treated in hospital after he suffered a gunshot injury in Carlyle Grove, Scotlands Estate, at around 10.45pm prompting an investigation.
On December 18 last year a man, aged in his 30s, suffered 'potentially life-changing' injuries after a gun went off in Westbourne Road, in Penn, shortly before 6.30pm.
