Jailed: Boyfriend raged as woman and daughter defended themselves with kettle of hot water
A mother and her teenage daughter desperately fought off an attacker using their fists and a kettle of boiling water, a court has heard.
The mother’s then boyfriend, Clive Raymond, aged 52, ransacked her flat in West Bromwich and then began beating her 17-year-old daughter.
Wolverhampton Crown Court was shown CCTV footage of Raymond, of Villa Street, Birmingham, punching the girl as her mother tried to separate them.
The girl then ran into the flat and returned with a kettle of water and threw it over Raymond’s shoulder and neck.
However, instead of scaring him off, the hot water caused Raymond to fly into a rage. He grabbed the mother and forcibly rammed her head against the flat’s front door.
The pair were in court to see Raymond jailed for nine months. He pleaded guilty to affray and possessing cannabis. When police arrested him he was found with a small quantity of the drug.
District Judge Adrian Lower, sitting as a recorder at Wolverhampton Crown Court, sentenced Raymond to four-and-a-half months for each count; affray and possession of cannabis.
Raymond was currently at His Majesty’s Pleasure after being recalled for a previous crime’s sentence.
The judge said: “Pouring the hot water on you actually enraged you and you became even more violent.
“You grabbed the mother and forcibly rammed her head against her front door.” He added: “Both mother and daughter did what they could to fight you off but you had just ‘flipped’ her apartment during an argument.”
The judge also granted a restraining order against Raymond over the two women and from address where they will be living when he is released from jail.
