Fifth man accused of murdering delivery worker in Shrewsbury appears in court
A fifth man has appeared in court accused of killing a delivery worker on the streets of Shrewsbury.
Sukhmandeep Singh was charged with the murder of Aurman Singh yesterday and appeared before Kidderminster Magistrates Court this morning.
Singh, 23, from Paynels, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, stood in the dock wearing a grey sweatshirt for the brief hearing.
He spoke through a Punjabi Indian interpreter, only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
Singh was told he faces one charge of murder – the killing of DPD worker Aurman Singh, at Shrewsbury on Monday, August 21.
Magistrates told the defendant his case would be committed to crown court.
He was told he was being remanded in custody ahead of a scheduled hearing at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday, September 5.
Singh is the fifth man charged over the death of Aurman Singh.
Four other men had already appeared in court charged with his murder – they are Arshdeep Singh, 24, of Shaw Road, Tipton; Jagdeep Singh, 22, of Goodrich Mews, Dudley; Manjot Singh, 24, and Shivdeep Singh, 26, both of Greenfield Road, Smethwick.
They are next scheduled to appear at Stafford Crown Court on October 27.
Aurman Singh died after he was attacked in Berwick Avenue in Coton Hill.
The 23-year-old, from Smethwick, was working for DPD at the time of the incident.
