Man arrested after pensioner conned out of thousands of pounds

A man has been arrested after a pensioner was conned out of thousands of pounds.

On April 22, an elderly man reported to have been significantly defrauded out of cash for building work to his home he didn't need.

A man in his 30s from Stourport has been arrested on suspicion of committing fraud by false representation.

He has since been released under investigation.

PC Jade Hounsell said: “We are continuing to investigate this case and would ask people to please check with their elderly relatives and friends that they haven’t had a similar experience and if so to please get in touch with us.

"Please remember to check who you are answering your door to, always obtain two separate quotes and be aware of the seven day cooling off period that contractors are obliged by.

“At any point you are concerned, contact us on 101 or on 999 if it is an emergency.

"You can also contact Trading Standards who are more than happy to advise.”
