Donations top £25,000 for family of two-week-old killed in Brownhills crash

A fundraiser set up to help the family of a two-week-old baby killed when his pram was struck by a car has raised more than £25,000.

Ciaran Leigh Morris was being walked down Brownhills High Street on Easter Sunday by his parents when a BMW hit the pram and pinned it against a wall after colliding with another car.

While floral tributes and messages have been left at the scene, a JustGiving page has been created to support the family.

Karl Roberts launched the page saying: "On the 4th of April, a traffic collision occurred on Brownhills high street that resulted in the loss of life of a two week old baby. We are trying to raise funds to support the family at this very difficult time."

Its initial target of £2,000 was surpassed on Monday afternoon, and by Tuesday afternoon the total had topped £18,000. It has since reached £25,987 this morning.

Along with donations, emotional messages have also been posted. Christine and Darren Doherty wrote: "I can't even begin to imagine what the people are going through. We don't no [sic] the family but they are in our thoughts."

Bev Gordon-Walker said: "I cannot even begin to imagine your pain. My heart has sincerely broken for you and your family.I am so sorry for your loss of beautiful Ciaran.God, please keep him safe in your arms."

Another donor said: "As a mother this has made me feel sick. What those poor poor parents must be feeling is just indescribable. Fly high beautiful boy. The angels will keep you safe now."

A 34-year-old man charged with causing Ciaran's death appeared in Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

James Paul Davis from Walsall is charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while uninsured, leaving the scene of a collision and failing to report a collision.
