A 28-year-old man was found in Coton Road, Erdington, with serious head injuries just before 6am and died shortly after.

Detectives believe he was hit by a car which drove off, and an investigation is under way to fully understand what happened.

A 26-year-old man handed himself into a local police station on Monday afternoon, say officers.

Detective Sergeant Nick Barnes, from the homicide team, said: “This is a significant development in our investigation to establish what took place on Saturday, but we still need to hear from anyone who has any information.

“I would appeal to anyone who has any information who has not yet spoken to us to please get in touch.

“Our thoughts remain with the family of the man at this incredibly difficult time."
