Sohail Ali was knifed a number of times in the chest and back at around 2.30pm in Summerfield Park in Winston Green on Friday.

A post-mortem carried out on Sunday revealed the 29-year-old died from multiple force injuries, a spokesman for West Midlands Police said.

Mr Ali’s family today (Tuesday 8 December) chose to release a picture and tribute to him: "My young, loving, kind-hearted son has been taken away from his family.

"This is the greatest loss. As a mother, I seek justice for my son Sohail and plead to any witnesses to come forward and contact the police."

Detectives have also confirmed they have made a fifth arrest – with a 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder, who remains in custody.

Three boys and a girl, all aged 17, arrested in connection with the case remain in custody. Another person arrested on Sunday remains in custody for questioning.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the force via their website or by calling 101 anytime. Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
