Arrest after double fatal shooting in Brierley Hill - the third Black Country shooting in three days

A man is being questioned today after being arrested on suspicion of murdering two men found dead in a car at a Dudley industrial estate.

The suspect was detained after a vehicle was stopped on Hunter Street in Carnforth, Lancashire, at around 11.30am on Thursday.

He was transported to a custody facility for questioning about the shooting of two men whose bodies were found in a car parked off Moor Street at 3.30pm on Wednesday.

It is understood the victims – aged in their late 20s or early 30s and yet to be formally identified – were killed at the industrial estate shortly after 1pm.

A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place today.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Munro from the Homicide Unit, said: “This is a fast moving investigation, a real team effort involving officers who’ve worked around the clock since the discovery of the bodies to trace the person we believe is responsible.

Three shootings in three days this week

“The arrest is a significant development but our enquiries continue and I would appeal to anyone with information about what’s happened, or anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious, to get in touch.”

It comes just a day after a man was seriously injured in a shooting in Cradley Heath.

The man, in his 20s, was shot in the arm and neck at around 10.30pm on Tuesday.

He was found in a Vauxhall car with a smashed-out window in Upper High Street, Cradley Heath, where he is believed to have driven to after being shot elsewhere.

And on Monday bullets were fired towards Wolverhampton College in Paget Road. Nobody was injured in that incident.
