A man, in his 40s, died after being hit by a car in Parkfield Road early yesterday morning – and a woman in her 50s was left critically injured.

A 22-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but has been released pending further investigation, West Midlands Police confirmed.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision and particularly anybody with dashcam footage.

Bystanders performed CPR on the man before ambulance crews arrived but sadly he could not be saved.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
