Police computer specialist due in court over 'illegal system access'

A Staffordshire Police staff member has been charged with misconduct in a public office.

Darren Collins, 54, a digital forensic specialist based at force headquarters in Stafford, was arrested on March 26 after a police investigation.

This relates to allegations of unlawfully accessing police computer systems between January 2014 and December 2018.

Collins, who is currently suspended, has been bailed to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on August 14, 2019.
