'Residents only': Clamp warning left on police car as officers help 94-year-old burglary victim

A note was left on a police car warning officers it would be clamped when they were attending a burglary at a 94-year-old's home.

West Midlands Police's Force Response posted a picture of the note which had been placed on a marked police car as officers attended a distraction burglary in Shirley, Solihull.

The note said: "This car park is for residents only.

"This is just a warning this time if the vehicle is seen parked again it will be clamped.

"Thank you. (Do not ignore)."

Force Response tweeted saying: "#Solihull #BUnit attended reports or a distraction Burglary in Progress in Shirley. As officers arrived the offender opened the door of the address and was swiftly arrested.

"We then spent some time completing an investigation and safeguarding the 94-year-old victim..."

Officers took to social media to say the car was parked "professionally and considerately".

They added: "When at incidents we do have to park our car. Wherever we are, we are always there for a reason."
