Suspect shoplifter Tasered during bid to flee Sainsbury's through roof

A suspected shoplifter was Tasered by police after he tried to escape out of the roof of a Wolverhampton supermarket.

Wolves City Police posted an image on Twitter showing a man trapped in the roof corner of a Sainsbury's store in Victoria Street.

Officers tweeted a police showing a suspect hanging from pipes in the shop ceiling.

Officers claimed the suspect shoplifter threatened to assault them before jumping down from the ceiling.

The force's Twitter account said that the thief was Tasered and then arrested.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were called at just before 11am. A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft after he managed to get into the warehouse of Sainsbury's store in Wolverhampton."
