A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the woman was stabbed multiple times in Lye yesterday.

It is believed the attack happened in a flat above shops off the town's High Street - just over a mile away from Chicago's in Stourbridge town centre, where 24-year-old Ryan Passey was stabbed to death in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The victim, aged in her 20s, remains in a serious condition in hospital while the suspected attacker continues to be questioned by detectives.

The suspect is believed to have known the victim and police are not looking for anybody else in relation to the stabbing.

An area next to Clinic Drive, just off Lye High Street, remained cordoned off this morning while forensic officers scoured the scene.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police were called to Providence Street in the Lye area of Dudley just after 3.30pm to reports of a stabbing.

"A woman in her 20s was taken to hospital with multiple stab injuries, where she remains in a serious condition.

"A man has been arrested on suspicion attempted murder. At this stage we are not are looking for anyone else and believe the parties were known to each other.

"Officers are currently speaking to a number of witnesses and have cordoned off the scene to carry out forensic investigations."
