Merry Hill stabbing: Dudley man, 19, charged with wounding

Police investigating a stabbing at the Merry Hill shopping centre in Brierley Hill have charged a man with wounding.

Ronan Parker, aged 19, of Dixons Green Road, Dudley, has been charged with wounding with intent and has been remanded into custody to appear before Dudley Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

Police were called to the shopping centre at around 11.15am yesterday. The stabbing happened on the upper mall near M&S.

A 19-year-old man who was taken to hospital to be treated for a stab injury remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Detective Inspector Tom Hadley of West Midlands Police said: “Enquires are on-going but we are treating this as an isolated incident between two people and we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this. Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

A statement from the shopping centre said: "West Midlands Police responded to an incident at intu Merry Hill. The emergency services responded immediately and one individual has been taken to hospital for treatment.

"The matter is now in the hands of the police and we will be supporting their investigation in every way we can."
