Suspected Birmingham terrorist arrested at airport
A Birmingham man who was arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences at Gatwick Airport has been bailed.
The 24-year-old was preparing to board a plane when he was arrested by officers from West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit on Monday.
A 20-year-old Birmingham woman arrested in West London has also been bailed.
The pair were arrested on suspicion of engaging in conduct in preparation for travelling to Syria and were taken to a police station in the West Midlands while officers searched two properties in Birmingham.
They have now bailed with strict conditions while enquiries take place.
Police said there was no risk to airport passengers or to the wider public and that the arrests had been part of an on-going investigation.
