Council staff pictured cleaning Wolverhampton's free outdoor pool after bank holiday 'disorder' and litter 'carnage'
Council workers were out cleaning Wolverhampton’s free outdoor pool this morning (Wednesday 27 May) after hundreds flocked there to cool off.
Council workers were pictured cleaning Tettenhall Pool this morning, a free outdoor pool in Wolverhampton.
Hundreds flocked to the popular pool over the late May bank holiday weekend to cool off as temperatures soared to a sizzling 33C.
Families were pictured having fun at the free outdoor pool on Monday (25 May), but it has not been all fun in the sunshine.

Councillor Sohail Khan, of Tettenhall Regis Ward, blasted the amount of rubbish left behind after he visited the pool on Tuesday (26 May).
A video, taken by Mr Khan, showed litter strewn across the site. He said: “To say it was carnage, would be an understatement. The amount of rubbish left behind was completely unacceptable.”
He added that the pool “is a fantastic facility for everyone to enjoy” but its future is “at risk” if this behaviour continues.

Mr Khan said he has requested a meeting with the City of Wolverhampton Council to “discuss what further measures can be put in place to improve safety, traffic management and the overall experience for residents and visitors.”
City of Wolverhampton Councillor, Qaiser Azeem, said: “We estimate around 4,000 people flocked to Tettenhall Pool over the weekend to bask in the brilliant Bank Holiday weather.
“It is always great to see so many people enjoying this top city attraction that we provide free of charge, however we urge everyone to do so in a responsible and considerate way.
“We ask people to leave the area litter free after they’ve enjoyed it, and if the bins are full during times of such high footfall, to take their excess rubbish home with them.”
There was also “disorder” at the pool on Monday with a man and woman taken to hospital.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 4.37pm on the late May bank holiday Monday due to reports of disorder near to the junction of Clifton Road and Stockwell Road. The road junction is located right next to the free outdoor pool.
West Midlands Police were also called and said in a statement: “A man and a woman in their 40s were assaulted and were seen to by paramedics. Anyone with any information is asked to contact us by calling 101 quoting log 3380 of 25 May.”
