Now, waste collection service Jones Skip Hire has taken to social media to apologise for their lack of services today, saying that due to the blaze this morning, they have ‘suspended operations’ whilst emergency services operate at the scene.

The group said that the safety of their team and the wider community is ‘our absolute priority’, and offered their thanks to the emergency services for their response.

A Jones Skip Hire spokesperson said: “This morning we experienced an incident at our site which has resulted in us temporarily suspending operations while the relevant emergency services complete their work and all necessary safety checks are carried out.

“The safety of our team, customers and the wider community is our absolute priority, and we would like to thank the emergency services for their swift response.”

The team said that as a result of the fire, there will be a disruption to services today; however, they will work to resume ‘normal operations’ as quickly as possible.

The spokesperson added: “As a result, there will unfortunately be some disruption to our services today. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to resume normal operations as quickly and safely as possible.

“If your delivery, collection or booking is likely to be affected, a member of our team will be in touch where possible. Alternatively, if you have any questions or require an update, please send us a direct message, and we'll respond as soon as we can.”

The blaze caused a large plume of smoke to spread over the immediate area of the fire, causing many to have breathing difficulties and at least one school to close.

Fire crews are still tackling the blaze as of 1.11pm, with the incident being classed as ‘ongoing’.

More to come as the situation develops.
