New era of craft distilling as public welcomed to learn at Staffordshire distillery

Lovers of spirits can learn, taste, make and create their own drinks as a new hands-on experience opens.

Spirits lovers from across the West Midlands are being invited to learn, make and do at a brand new hands-on experience.

Chuckle Engine Spirit Company is calling on spirit lovers across Staffordshire and beyond to roll up their sleeves, spark up the stills and celebrate the launch of its distilling experiences, marking a new chapter in the Chuckle Engine story.

Created and led by former Nelson’s Distillery distillers David and Sue Hunter, who’ve traded structured production schedules for copper stills and creative freedom, the immersive three‑hour sessions invite guests to craft their very own rum, vodka or gin.

Each experience uses a traditional miniature copper still and more than 40 botanicals chosen with the curiosity of Victorian inventors and the flair of modern flavour explorers.

Hosted in Uttoxeter at the Globe ECO Centre, the sessions blend expert guidance, botanical playfulness, and Chuckle Engine character.

Guests will explore the history of spirits, learn the art of flavour balancing, sample Chuckle Engine spirits, and create a unique 70cl bottle of their own recipe to take home.

David Hunter, founder and Chief Engine Keeper, said: “This is a huge moment for us as a fresh spark and a brand‑new experience for Staffordshire.

“We wanted something hands‑on, joyful, and full of discovery.

“Watching your own spirit bubble to life is pure magic, science, and mischief all at once.”

Each shared experience for two includes a full three‑hour guided craft distilling session, use of a personal miniature copper still, choice of creating gin, rum, or vodka, guided tastings of Chuckle Engine spirits, a handcrafted 70cl bottle to take home and tea, coffee, soft drinks, and snacks.

Experiences run on the first Saturday of selected months at the Globe Eco Centre in Uttoxeter, with spaces limited and advance booking essential.
