‘I ran 3,000 miles in 2025 - the distance from Bridgnorth to the North Pole’ - Runner completes epic charity challenge
A keen Shropshire runner has completed a mammoth challenge, running 3,000 miles - the distance from his home in Bridgnorth to the North Pole - in just 12 months.
NHS worker Tim Nash, from Bridgnorth, is a regular 10k runner, but decided to see if he could push himself for 2026 and complete the epic distance in just a year.
The 54-year-old decided he would use the challenge to also raise money for his local walking football club, Bridgnorth Spartans, which has reignited his passion for the game.
Tim said: “At the age of 54 and a long-retired Sunday League 'shuffler', I never thought I'd experience the joy of scoring a goal again.
“But that's exactly what happened when I joined the Spartans walking football team. From primary school age to pensioners, girls and boys teams, men's and ladies sides, this club proves what a real community is, with some 600 players.”

On Wednesday, the last day of 2025, Tim, who had already clocked up 2,994 miles, took on his last run around Bridgnorth, which completed his 3,000-mile challenge.
He said: “I had the idea of running 300k a month, which is 10k a day.

“By June I had done 1,300 miles and I realised that if I stepped it up to nine miles a day (14km) I could get to 3,000.
“By October, I had a chat with Martin Edwards from the Bridgnorth Spartans and he suggested a fundraiser - so far we have raised more than £1,300.”

Tim was joined on the last leg of his challenge on Wednesday by fellow members of Bridgnorth Running Club and they all followed the Bridgnorth 10k route. He was then presented with a medal from the Spartans, plus a club hat and scarf.
“It was wonderful to see so many people and I’m so thankful for everyone’s support,” said Tim. “No one can achieve something like this without the help of others, so a huge thank you to my long-suffering wife Clare.
“I’ve woken her up for my many 5.30am runs and she’s had to juggle meal times around my evening runs, so she can rest assured we won’t have to do that again for a while!

“I must also thank my regular training partners Karen Gibbons, Vicky Morris, Pete Lowe-Werrell and Mike Timmington, who have all helped keep me going.
“Everyone at the running club has also been so supportive, with special thanks to Sara Nunney for the constant positive social media posts urging me on.
“Huge thanks also to Spartans – especially Martin Edwards – for supporting me and making my final run a proper event.
“The money raised will benefit so many people, from young to old.”
Kelly Woodcock from the Spartans said: “What Tim has done is amazing – such dedication and commitment to run every day, and we’re so thankful to be the beneficiaries of his efforts. A huge well done.”

Tim was also greeted at the finish line by Mayor of Bridgnorth David Cooper.
Tim said the money raised from his 3,000-mile challenge will be going to a new marquee for Bridgnorth Spartans that will benefit more than 500 players across all age groups, male and female.
