Black Country Music Festival moves from Himley to Dudley town centre - here's why

A popular music festival is set to become a free town centre event after organisers cited financial concerns as the main reason for the change.

A popular music festival celebrating Black Country culture is set to become a free event after organisers cited financial concerns and issues.

The Black Country Music Festival had been set to take place at Himley Hall on July 11, following on from the success of the 2025 festival at the same venue.

However, the organising committee said it had made the decision to move the festival to Stone Square Street in Dudley Town Centre and make the event free to attend.

James Stevens, who is a member of the organising committee, said difficulty in selling tickets and recognition of a tough time financially for people had caused the committee to make the decision to ensure the festival could keep going.

He said: “As a few people may already have heard, we have made the decision to move this year’s Black Country Music Festival from Himley Hall to Stone Street Square in Dudley town centre.

“There are a number of reasons behind the move, the main one being the current difficulty in selling tickets.

“We are determined to keep the festival going, but we also recognise that it is a tough time financially for many people.

“As a result, we have decided to make the event free to attend.

“All artists have now been informed, and ticket buyers have been refunded.

“We are currently finalising the revised line-up following the move and expect to publish full details within the next couple of days.

“We would like to thank everyone for their patience and continued support, and we look forward to seeing you all for a fantastic free day of music in Dudley town centre on July 11.”
