Birmingham sees surge in lost pets ahead of Bonfire Night

Birmingham was the top city for runaway pets in the UK

New data reveals the scale of Birmingham’s runaway pet problem, with lost pet alerts surging by a staggering 146 per cent across the country over the last six months.

According to Life360, a family connection and safety app, Birmingham was the top city for runaway pets followed by Manchester and Bristol, according to the apps lost pet alerts.

The dog breed that generated the most missing pet alerts was the Labrador Retriever followed by the Border Collie, Collie and Cockapoo.

Due to the loud bangs during bonfire night pets could be more likely to run away with the RSPCA urging owners to “stick to day time walks” and “keep cats indoors”. To combat this surge in missing pets and to provide peace of mind to pet owners ahead of Bonfire night, life360 has launched a new pet tag.

Jamie Oliver, newly appointed Life360 Ambassador, commented.

“Fireworks season is great fun for families but for pets, the loud bangs and unexpected flashes can be stressful. Having the Pet tracker on [our dog] and being able to pinpoint his location on our phones gives us that extra peace of mind during a time when fireworks could be going off unexpectedly,” said the ambassador.
