Kelly Horton, a bingo caller at the beloved Mecca club in Brierley Hill, is up for a national award after fronting the job for 19 years.

The 48-year-old, who has lived in Brierley Hill for nearly 30 years, has been nominated for the prestigious award Best Bingo Caller by the experts at WhichBingo.

Kelly is a well-known face at Mecca’s venue on the high street and already holds the reigning Mecca Bingo ‘Caller of the Year’ title, after she wowed an expert panel with her enthusiasm, rapport with customers and line dancing skills, getting the crowd up and dancing to a remix of R&B classic, ‘Stand By Me’.

Members of the public can vote for Kelly before the poll closes on Thursday 30 April by heading to https://www.whichbingo.co.uk/awards/vote/.

The winners will be announced from 8 May on WhichBingo’s social media channels, ahead of the awards ceremony on Wednesday 13 May 2026.

Speaking on her nomination, Kelly told the Express & Star: “I couldn’t believe it when I was crowned Mecca’s Caller of the Year in 2024, so to be nominated for this industry-wide award as well feels amazing!

“All my colleagues and customers are so supportive and have really got behind me.

“Now it’s the last few days of the public poll, the competition is really stiff and every vote counts.

“It would mean the world to me and the club to bring the award home for Brierley Hill!”.

In her spare time, kind-hearted Kelly volunteers at the Wollescote Community Centre, and it was there that she realised that she could use her dancing to get everyone moving.

Kelly shared her most favourite moment to date where one customer won more than £70,000.

Kelly said: “They say the number 7 is lucky and it really was for one customer who won £77,777. He was always joking, so when he claimed a ‘full house’ I really wasn’t sure if he was pulling my leg!”.
