Groovy time for all as Black Country Museum invites public to revel in 1960s fun

Two nights of 1960s fun, including live music and food, are set to bring hundreds of people to the Black Country Museum.

The colour, music, food and fashion of the 1960s is set to be celebrated as the Black Country Living Museum opens its doors to two big nights of fun.

The Dudley museum is inviting visitors to step back in time to one of Britain’s most colourful and influential decades with its upcoming 1960s Evenings, taking place on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16.

Visitors are encouraged to dress the part, bring their dancing shoes and join Black Country Living Museum for a far‑out celebration of one of the most iconic decades in modern history.

Each evening is set to feature two completely different live music line-ups celebrating the diversity of 1960s music, including rock ’n’ roll, soul and R&B.

Musical acts performing on Friday, May 15 include Love The Beatles, Judy D & Friends Presents… Respect to the Divas, and The AC30s, while Saturday, May 16 sees The Rolling Clones, Are You Experienced? and The Daisy Chains take to the stage.

Alongside the electric atmosphere, guests can savour traditional Black Country favourites including the Museum’s famous fish and chips, plus a tempting selection of local ales and drinks served in the museum’s historic pubs, with visitors able to enjoy a retro coke float for a fun alternative.

A spokesman for the museum said “The 1960s was a decade bursting with colour, music and attitude, and this event is all about bringing that spirit roaring back to life.
