Appeal after three sick kittens found dumped in Birmingham church car park

RSPCA appeal for information with CCTV footage from the car park.

Three underweight and unwell kittens have been found abandoned in a dog crate outside a West Midlands church.

The kittens, thought to be from different litters, were found at the rear of St John’s Church Hall on Church Road in Perry Barr, Birmingham at around 9.15pm on October 7.

Kittens, named Johnny, Cayenne and Chilli, were left outside in the black crate with no protection from the weather.

They were extremely frightened, underweight, riddled with fleas and were later found to be suffering from cat flu.

A member of the public who found the kittens took them to a local veterinary practice before they were transferred to the RSPCA’s Newbrook Farm Animal Hospital in Frankley, where they are now receiving treatment.

RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Charlotte Holder said: “It’s heart-breaking that three tiny kittens, already poorly and vulnerable, were found dumped in this way. They’re all so young, and it must have been a terrifying experience for them.

“Thankfully, they’re now receiving the veterinary care they need alongside love and care as they get ready to find the loving new homes they deserve, once they’re fully recovered.”

Now, the RSPCA is hoping to speak to a man, shown on CCTV footage, who was thought to be in the vicinity at the time the kittens were abandoned in a silver/grey BMW.

Holder added: “We’re keen to establish what happened to them and how they came to be left in the church car park - we’d like to hear from anyone who might’ve seen someone leaving the kittens at the church, or who has information about who may be responsible.

“Even the smallest piece of information could help with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the charity’s inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018, quoting reference 01922407.
