The Harper Group have gifted a cheque of £1,000 to All Saints CE Primary School in Bednall, near Stafford, to help build a new outdoor 'hideout' for students to use.

The money will help to build the base of the 'Hollins' Hideout' building, which will give children a covered area to enjoy their Wildlife Wednesdays' outdoor learning sessions.

Zoe Scott, headteacher at All Saints CE Primary School, said that the money will help complete the building, which will help to make their outdoor lessons more enjoyable.

She said: "It's always been our dream to have a building on the field for the children to use.

"We run Wildlife Wednesdays here, which is a forest school where children can do nature-based activities. This will help to create a base for that. It's always been the dream."

The £1,000 will be added to the £5,000 already raised by the school through fundraising, with the building being named after the late CEO of the Staffordshire University Academy Trust, the trust that oversees the school.

Ms Scott added: "It will be a lovely space when it is finished. We have decided to dedicate it to Keith Hollins, who was our CEO of the Staffordshire University Academy Trust.

"He sadly passed away during the Covid pandemic, but I know he would have loved to have seen this.

"It's going to allow us to have outdoor craft sessions, PE classes on the field, and we are going to do Muddy Church, where we hold church lessons outside. It's amazing."

The cheque was presented following the development of the Cooper's Meadow housing project in Bednall, which is being developed by the Harper Group in partnership with Housing Plus Group's
