Kind-hearted Bloxwich garage owners offering community service through free vehicle health checks and support
The kind-hearted owners of a Bloxwich garage have been offering free vehicle health checks as part of a push to provide more community support.
Lewis and Clinton Hartland have been offering the free health checks at Two Guys Automotive Repair Centre on Marlborough Street in Bloxwich since the end of July, having come up with the idea after providing a free body repair service for a carer.
Clinton Hartland said the garage had been recommended on a Facebook group called Bloxwich Chit Chat after the carer had detailed what had happened and spoke about how they helped her.
He said: "The group has about 30,000 members on there and she had posted what had happened to her car and appealing for help, saying that she was a carer and was living hand-to-mouth and so we were tagged in by people who said we were a good garage.
"I messaged her and told her to bring it in and we'd have a look and see what we would do to polish it out, then found it was damaged when she got here and would need to be plastic welded, which upset her as she said she was going to be wiped out financially.
"I told her to leave it with us and we'd see what we could so, then after seeing the level of damage, we decided to just repair it, paint it up and fix it, and when she arrived and saw it, she panicked, saying that she couldn't afford it, but I told her not to worry about it as we didn't want any money, just for her to pay it forward and do a good deed for somebody."
Mr Hartland said that news of this had gone out and he'd heard how so many people had been touched by the story, as well as seeing in the comments how many people were struggling financially.
He said that, after a discussion with his brother, the garage would offer the free health check service as a way of serving the community.

He said: "We decided that we wanted to give back to the community and after talking about it, realised that it wouldn't cost us anything in terms of materials and would only be time, so we started to offer the health checks.
"People can come by and we'll let them know what work needs doing and whether their vehicles need repairing and then discount it down to help people who are struggling financially.
"It seems to me that in Bloxwich, there are a lot of people who are struggling and while I'm not saying that we're going to repair every vehicle for free, we do want to give a bit back and it's going to be ongoing for as long as we need to do it."
