Closing date for public consultation on traffic scheme for major Wolverhampton route
The public consultation for Wolverhampton Council alterations to the A54 Willenhall Road closes next week.
This is the third phase of the major regeneration of the A454, including the construction of a new link road and hamburger island at Neachells Lane and Mossley Road junction improvements.
Plans were first unveiled in 2019 but motorists still face congestion in Wolverhampton. The latest application was submitted in March but the neighbourhood consultation comment deadline is on September 3.
After a consultation the decision has been made to build a new link road and hamburger island at Neachells Lane is the best option to solve the continual congestion on the major route.
Planning permission is being sought for the implementation.
In a statement to planning officers, Black Country Transport said: "The A454 carries high traffic flows throughout the working day in both directions including significant bus flows, serving both medium density residential and commercial areas on both sides of the carriageway.
"The proposed schemes seek to provide a multi-modal corridor to improve access and flow for buses, cyclists and general traffic as well as providing high quality cycling and pedestrian facilities."
