'It's nice to be back in my beautiful hometown' - Wolves legend Steve Bull heads home to Tipton to open 'fantastic' new café

Powered by Tipton-based charity Groundwork West Midlands, the café will provide locals with a hub in the heart of the local community, and a base for the charity to work from and continue their positive work in the Black Country.

"I'm really impressed with how many people are here from the community in Tipton," Anne-Marie Simpson, chair of the Groundwork West Midlands board, said. "I cannot tell you how excited and how glad we are to have the café open as a new facility in Tipton.

"It really is a testament to the work that we do in the community. We've had a presence in the community for quite some time, but to now actually have a shop front and somewhere for you all to come, meet, gather, have social interactions, find out what we do and access our services - it really follows on from a lot of the projects that we do.

"We hope you will enjoy using the café, and I'd like to say a big thank you to Andrew (Thompson) and the team for everything they've done to bring the project to fruition.

"It's happened incredibly quickly. We signed it off as a board in September and here we are less than a year later kitted out with a fantastic facility."

Wolves legend 'Bully' addressed the crowd that gathered for the opening, saying: "It's nice to be back in Tipton, my absolutely beautiful hometown.

"I've got the easy job cutting the ribbon, the hard job is getting everything up and running and they've done a brilliant job.

"Wherever you go you see places that need picking up, and places like this do the world of good for the area, so respect it, enjoy it and treat it like it's your own."
