Man charged after two police officers assaulted in Walsall
A man was arrested and charged with allegedly assaulting two police officers after an incident at a house in Walsall.
The officers from West Midlands Police had responded to reports of an assault on Faraday Road on Friday, but were subsequently assaulted themselves and taken to hospital, although both have since been discharged and are being supported by the force.
Nathan Hayward was arrested and has now been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, non-fatal strangulation and criminal damage.
The 30-year-old, of no fixed address, was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today, although no details are currently available of his appearance.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man has been charged after two officers were assaulted in Walsall yesterday (Fri).
"Officers responded to reports of an assault at an address in Faraday Road.
"Two officers were taken to hospital after being assaulted.
"They have since been discharged and are being supported and receiving the appropriate care and welfare.
"Nathan Hayward of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, non-fatal strangulation and criminal damage.
"The 30-year-old was remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today."
