Police were called to the scene  just after 7.45pm on the day.

Those involved had already left, but police investigators found evidence that a gun had been fired.

The West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit launched an investigation, and found Lemathy had been stabbed in the disorder and had taken himself to hospital.

CCTV images showed the disorder taking place and Lemathy recklessly shooting his gun, despite pedestrians walking by.

At one point, the man he appears to be aiming at held a passer-by as a ‘human shield’ to prevent Lemathy firing again.

Detectives found the 21-year-old was involved in the disorder and fired the gun. After he was discharged from hospital, he was arrested and questioned.

After pleading guilty to possession of a firearm with intent at Birmingham Crown Court in April, Lemathy, of Holte Road, Perry Barr, was jailed  last week for nine years and nine months.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "His jailing is part of the success of Operation Target, which sees police work 24/7 to disrupt and arrest serious and organised crime.

"Those involved in guns, drugs, money laundering and exploitation are being brought to justice as part of the operation."
