Dangerous West Midlands cannabis farm has been shut down by police and a man arrested

Police discovered the huge cannabis farm while attending a property in Rowley Regis with British Gas

A major cannabis farm in the West Midlands has been shut down after our officers seized more than 300 plants.

Officers were called to Rowley Regis High Street on Friday (June 6) to assist British Gas make a property safe.

Working with West Midlands Fire Service to gain entry, officers discovered a substantial cannabis farm with more than 300 plants spread across multiple floors.

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity.

He has been bailed as police continue their enquiries.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Cannabis farms are extremely dangerous as they require huge amounts of power for heating and lighting.

“This is often achieved through dangerously bypassing the mains supply, which can cause catastrophic fires threatening nearby properties.

“Our teams across the West Midlands regularly carry out warrants at properties suspected of being involved in cannabis production.
