Inquest opened into death of a former West Midlands Police officer and young mum who died days before Christmas

Bethany Wooldridge, aged 27, was found unresponsive at home in Park Lane, Worfield, near Bridgnorth on December 17 last year, leaving behind husband Josh Wooldridge and three children: Tommy, aged four; Lylah, aged seven; and Alyssia, aged 10.

Shropshire Coroner’s Court was told that paramedics attended and performed advanced life support but, despite their best efforts, Mrs Wooldridge could not be saved and was pronounced dead at 8.31am.

Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances or any third party involvement surrounding her death.

John Ellery, senior coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, adjourned the full inquest to April 24 this year.

Bethany’s husband Josh said the family are “heartbroken” and "devastated" by the loss.

She had stepped down from serving with West Midlands Police in January last year. The family had also just moved to their dream home in Worfield, near Bridgnorth.

More than £4,700 has been pledged to the family in donations after an online fundraiser was set up by her sister, Tory.

“Beth was the absolute best thing in our lives and we all absolutely adored her. Her loving, caring, thoughtful nature will never be forgotten,” she said. “Beth, Josh and the three kids had just moved house to their dream place, Worfield in Bridgnorth.

“Everything Beth wanted she achieved. She was so fierce when it came to her children and husband, and would protect those she loved the most more than anything. She had such a beautiful soul, and we were all so proud of her.

“As a family we are broken, and will continue Beth's memory on forever. Words will never describe the hole she has left in our hearts that can never be filled.”

She added: “It being such a devastating time, and so close to Christmas, as a family we are looking to raise funds, for her husband Joshua and their three beautiful children, to go towards funeral costs and for them as a family to use as they see fit during this life-changing and heartbreaking time.”
