Arbor Lights, in Lichfield Street, has shut its doors.

But owners Punch Taverns today said the closure would be temporary and new tenants are being sought.

Jo Navin, spokeswoman for Punch, today said: "The Arbor Lights is closed temporarily but our priority is to reopen the pub as soon as possible.

"We hope to be in a position to confirm more details in the next week."

Arbor Lights, which was widely considered by many to be the first gastro-pub in Walsall, first opened in December 2002 in what was formerly Irish bar Fibber McGees.

Today, newspapers have been placed in the windows of the venue, as customers expressed their sadness.
