A 300-seat buffet restaurant that will create 50 new jobs is planned for a popular former bar in the Midlands. The former Chicago Rock Cafe in Walsall will be transformed into Fiesta World Buffet and Bar.

Fifteen trained chefs will be hired as well as dozens of waiting staff and will serve up Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Indian and English food.

Regeneration boss Adrian Andrew said: "It is brilliant news because it is creating jobs and will bring greater footfall into the town centre.

"It also sounds like something that people of all ages and families would be able to enjoy and it is perfect for that location."

A Facebook group has been set up to inform people of the jobs.

A message reads: "Fiesta World Buffet and Bar are proud to be using Walsall-based builders, electricians, carpenters, joiners, kitchen fabricators and other tradesmen in building their new flagship restaurant which opens early March 2012 in Walsall town centre.

"The new restaurant will create 50 new job opportunities ranging from bar staff, waiters, front of house, experienced managers and chefs."

The former Chicago Rock Cafe building in Lichfield Street closed down suddenly in December last year.
