Part of a ground-breaking transport system used to shuttle people from Birmingham International railway station to Birmingham Airport has sold on ebay for £25,100.

The Maglev carriage, in service between 1984 and 1995, was snapped up by an unknown buyer last night.

Maglev was one of the world's first magnetic levitation transport systems and was at one point seen as the future.

Proceeds for the sale will go towards Acorns Children's Hospice and the Help the Heroes charity.
