Human remains were found in undergrowth on an embankment near the M5 in Oldbury today.

A member of the public made the gruesome discovery.

Police were called to the Junction 2 Industrial Estate on Demuth Way alongside the M5 at 9.30am today after the remains were found.

The remains were in undergrowth on an embankment near the M5, close to a warehouse unit on Demuth Way, a cul de sac which runs parallel to the motorway.

An area close the Dyson Insultation Ltd unit was cordoned off by officers this morning and a police car was at the scene.

It is understood that the body could have been there for some time.

Jaspreet Jagdev, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "We can confirm that the remains of a body have been found in undergrowth in Demuth Way, Oldbury.

"We were called at 9.45am today and inquiries are ongoing."

Police cannot yet confirm whether the remains are male or female.

The scene takes in the Samsung Customer Service Centre and police have set up a mobile unit at the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Police on 0845 1135000.
