Five beauty spots in the West Midlands that rival anywhere in the UK

There are several beauty spots here in the West Midlands that rival anywhere in the UK.

Living in the West Midlands you don’t have to travel far to visit a beauty spot. There are several to choose from and arguably they rival other fantastic beauty spots across the UK.

From dramatic hilltop views to waterways that seem lifted from a postcard, the region offers moments every bit as memorable as those found in Britain's more celebrated corners.

Here are five West Midlands scenes that prove you don't have to travel to the Lake District, the Cotswolds or the Scottish Highlands to find something extraordinary.

The Malvern Hills

There are few sights in England quite like the views at the Malvern Hills.

As the sun climbs above the horizon, a sea of mist often settles over the surrounding countryside, leaving only church spires and distant hilltops visible. Standing on Worcestershire Beacon, it's easy to forget you're in the heart of England rather than a remote national park.

Clent Hills

When the heather begins to colour the slopes and the evening sun turns the landscape gold, the Clent Hills offer some of the most rewarding views in the Midlands.

On a clear day, visitors can see across several counties, while the rolling countryside below creates a scene that rivals many of Britain's best-known beauty spots.

The Shropshire Hills Around Carding Mill Valley

The dramatic folds of Carding Mill Valley provide a landscape that feels remarkably wild for central England.

Streams tumble through rocky valleys, walkers climb towards panoramic viewpoints and skylarks fill the air above open moorland. It's a setting that often surprises first-time visitors with its scale and sense of escape.

Kinver Edge and the Rock Houses

Perched above woodland on the Staffordshire-Worcestershire border, Kinver Edge combines sweeping views with one of the region's most unusual attractions.

The sandstone rock houses carved into the hillside offer a glimpse into centuries of history, while the surrounding heathland creates a landscape that feels both ancient and timeless.

Lenches Lakes

Tucked away among the gentle countryside near the villages of the Lenches, these peaceful lakes offer a setting that feels far removed from the bustle of everyday life.

Framed by mature woodland and open fields, the water reflects the changing seasons beautifully, whether it's the fresh greens of spring, the golden tones of autumn or a crisp winter sunrise.
